History

The Earl of Southampton Trust can trace its origins to approximately the year 1597.

It is an amalgamation of five earlier charities and, from 1969 until 1989, was called The Titchfield Welfare Trust.

The name was changed at that time to The Earl of Southampton Trust in order to avoid confusion with The Titchfield Village Trust, a local environmental pressure group.
